A HISTORY LESSON

Santa Cruz Bicycles was born out of a simple truth: the bikes we wanted to ride didn’t exist. We had a vision for mountain biking – its look, the ride, and the technology – but we knew it would never become a reality unless we built it ourselves.

Our first model, the Tazmon, was an unconventional 80mm travel, dual-suspension bike. Many said a full-suspension trail bike was dumb, but we knew mountain biking needed it. As riders, we needed it. Our first bike model was the Tazmon—an 80mm travel, dual-suspension bike that rattled established sensibilities, and launched the Santa Cruz Bicycles brand into the full-suspension future. 30 years and 89 bike models later, we’re still pushing the envelope while remaining simply advanced.
