7 days. 5,000 kilometers. One dream

A lecture about courage, willpower and 5,000 kilometers on a bike🥇

🚴‍♀️ Meet Pernille and Mikkel and hear the incredible story of their participation in Race Across America

On June 14, 2025, Pernille and Mikkel stood side by side on the starting line in Oceanside, California.

Ahead of them awaited 5,000 kilometers, 55,000 vertical meters and a cross section of an entire continent – from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic.

The preparation had taken two years. Planning, training, equipment, strategy, and most importantly, a solid team ready to support them through every day, every mountain and every moment of fatigue and doubt.

Race Across America (RAAM) is not just a bike race – it’s a journey into human endurance, willpower and teamwork.

A race where you race day and night, in shifts, without a break, from west to east – with one goal: to finish as fast as possible.

For Pernille and Mikkel, the goal was ambitious:
💪 To run a world record time for a mix team in the 50-60 age group.

But first they had to battle through the extreme conditions that RAAM is known for.

The first few days saw temperatures around 45 degrees during the day and 30 at night. The heat was relentless. Sleep was minimal.

But the caravan – consisting of 12 dedicated helpers in 4 vehicles (a motorhome, two support vehicles and a media/processor van) – kept everything running smoothly. Food, fluids, navigation, communication and morale – everything had to play.

“It’s a wild piece of teamwork. A wild cycling experience,” they say.

And it was. A race filled with moments where the only thing that matters is the next pedal stroke. Where fatigue and euphoria flow together.

Where standing side by side – both as a partner and as a team – means everything.

👉 At Copenhagen Bike Show 2026 you can hear the fascinating story of how Pernille and Mikkel overcame the heat of the desert, the steep climbs of the mountains and the last demanding kilometers of the East Coast.

They talk about the preparations, the challenges, the mental focus – and everything that happens behind the scenes when a Danish team tries to make history in one of the world’s most extreme cycling races.

It will be a talk filled with passion, inspiration and raw determination – and a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with two people who set an almost impossible goal… and cycled it home. 🚴‍♂️🔥
